Hi all,
I seem to have a hit a Florida blog blinker, following up my Top 10 Florida Car Hire Tips and my Orlando Driving Times comes my top Florida Beaches. Please note they are not ranked in preference.
Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach boasts over 20 miles of sandy white beach, a great atmosphere and great weather ranging from an average of 59.3°F (20.6° C) in the winter to an average temperature of 78.5° F (30.4° C) in the summer; perfect for fun in the sun all year round!
Fort Lauderdale Beach
The City of Fort Lauderdale boasts more than seven miles of sparkling beaches that offer residents and visitors premier opportunities forrecreation, relaxation and enjoyment. The City’s award-winning wavewall and signature beachfront promenade highlight Fort Lauderdale’s world famous coastline, which is punctuated by an array of shops, restaurants, sidewalk cafes and entertainment venues. Beachgoers can participate in a wide range of activities from boating, wind surfing, jet skiing and volleyball to snorkeling, scuba diving, deep-sea fishing and rollerblading. Or, if relaxation is what you desire, simply sit back, unwind and enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Hutchinson Island
Located off the coast of Martin and St. Lucie counties, Hutchinson Island is a barrier island bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Indian River on the west. Its home to the Elliot Museum, the historic House of Refuge and the Florida Oceanographic Society and offers horseback riding on the beach.
Panama City Beach
Panama City Beach in Florida is one of the best known and most belovedbeach resorts in the world. Beach goers come to Panama City Beach just to relax on its clean, white, sandy beaches, to participate in every imaginable water sport including scuba diving and fishing, and even to enjoy some of the hottest party spots anywhere. Panama City Beach is located in the Florida Panhandle where other vacation and travel opportunities abound.
Clearwater Beach
Clearwater Beach dazzles with impeccable beaches and inviting waters.Caladesi Island, off the north end of the beach, was recognized as the nation’s best by Dr. Beachin 2008.
You can hike and bike the trails, or just enjoy the beach. The kids will get a kick out of meeting Panama the Dolphin at the Clearwater Aquarium, and will beg for treats at Pier 6 or the old-fashioned Farmer’s Market.
Fort Myers
When visiting Fort Myers Beach, Florida, try out watersports such asparasailing and kayaking, or just relax on the beaches. Just off the coast are the islands of Sanibel and Captiva.
If it rains, Fort Myers has plenty of attractions to keep the whole family amused – botanical gardens, a nature center, a planetarium and even a hands-on imagination museum.
A few others I didn’t have time to add are
Fort Walt0n Beach
Cocoa Beach
Siesta Key
Have I missed any obvious beaches, have you been to any of these?
regards,
James
