Hi all,

Today I was looking through a suppliers marketing  introduction, it’s basically a .PDF form designed to sell this supplier to us. One of the pages, listed its popular blog, citing some statistics that made me think about our own little blog. Which then lead me to check our own statistics…

Unfortunately our statistics only start from March 2009 but interestingly only 7011 visited the blog in 2009.

Amount of Posts - 655 including this one.

Amount of visitors – Total amount of visitors since 2009 is 210,663

Amount of Page Views – 734,512

All though these statistics are not that impressive if compared to our main website www.usrentacar.co.uk the social team are pretty happy with these figures, this may shock some of you but USA car hire isn’t the sexiest thing in the world but we try our best to at least make it interesting.

Looking at where our traffic comes from its interesting to see how the rise of social sharing sites has boosted the blog’s traffic.

The original idea of the blog was to give us an easy and quick way to communicate with our customers, its good to see that when acts of God occur like the Ash cloud, that the blog really comes in to its own and helps us pass information quickly to our customers.

2011 is almost upon us, so I thought this might be an ideal time to look back at my work over 2010. The car hire blog was handed over to me with only 50 posts registered and I’m happy to say that we are now nearing 300 posts.

Below are my favourite 5 posts of 2010, they are not necessarily based on volume of hits but more personal satisfaction.

Reason – This was a really big deal for us, we’d been hounding Universal for a deal for as long as I’ve worked here, but the climate had never been suitable, until now. Being a fan of the Harry Potter series, the chance to work with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park was and is, really exciting. Look out for new websites and offers in the new year.

Reason – Not strictly 2010 (actually 2009) and not strictly my work, however the amount of traffic this little article brings in still makes me smile. Our Res Team are constantly moaning that customer keep asking for a bat mobile even though it was posted on the April Fools day!!!

Reason - Again not really a big post in terms of hits but for me it was my first proper idea that I took to the boss and set up from start to finish. It has by no means been as successful as I’d hoped but I learnt a lot.
