Budget Rent A Car Announces Additions To 2013 Fleet

Hi all,

We are fully emerged in 2013 now, I’ve even got to the point now of not typing 2012 by accident! Today I received an PR release from Budget Rent A Car confirming some new additions to their 2013 Fleet.

Budget has taken deliveries of new cars and Sport Utility Vehicles from a number of suppliers, including  Nissan, Volkswagen, Ford, Chrysler, Hyundai and General Motors.

A few of the stand out additions include the 2 dr Volkswagen Beetle, which sports 17-inch alloy wheels and is does 31 miles per gallon (info provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); the latest Ford Fusion, which is rated at 34 mpg; the Dodge Dart, Chrysler Group’s “first vehicle based on parent company Fiat’s architecture,” with a fuel efficiency rating of 36 miles per gallon; and the Nissan Altima rated at 38 miles per gallon.

Other vehicles to catch the eye are the 2013 Toyota Avalon, the manufacturers “first car designed and engineered in North America“; the third-generation Hyundai Santa Fe with two-row, five-passenger seating; and the redesigned Ford Escape, with seating for five and more cargo space than their older models.

The Jeep Wrangler, Ford F-150 SuperCrew pickup truck and Ford Econoline E-350 12-passenger van have also been added to the Fleet.

Makes and models of vehicles unfortunately  can never be guaranteed but its refreshing to see a supplier being so forth coming with Fleet information.

Is there a vehicle you’d love to hire that they’ve missed?

Budget Rent A Car Issue Huge Amendments

Hi all,

We’ve been informed today of some major amendments to the Budget Rent A Car packages being sold here on usrentacar.co.uk. These new amendments will take place from 1st August 2012 and will effect all new or amended rentals.

Major Changes

Unfortunately some of the unique selling points Budget offered are either being removed or amended, I will try to break down the major alterations here.

Free upgrade deal

For a few years now Budget Rent A Car have been offering a free upgrade on certain categories of vehicles based on availability. A huge number of our customers have taken advantage of this offer however as of today this offer is not available on new bookings.

Additional Driver

This one keeps altering, but for now the additional driver included within the Budget Rent A Car silver rate is now only applicable to spouses and domestic partners.

Pre-Paid Sat Nav’s Collected Locally

Another amendment to the contract now prevents us from pre-booking GPS units to be collected upon arrival. You can still purchase our Sat Nav sent to you here in the UK though.

Young Drivers Package

This one for me is the real blow, unfortunatley as of today Budget Rent A Car have removed their Young Drivers Package. This is a real shame as Budget were one of the pioneering suppliers for under 25 driving.

Remember we still have Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental to provide our young drivers service.

We will continue to speak to Budget and where we can look to add more value to their product.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us,

Budget Rent A Car Confirm 2011 Fleet Details

Hi all,

Thought this press release from Avis Budget Rent A Car might be of interest as it gives details of the fleet for 2011.

Becky Alseth, senior vice president of marketing for Avis Budget Group, the parent company of Budget said

“Customers get a great low rate for a vehicle from what we believe is the youngest fleet in the industry, and from there, we offer customers many ways to save even more.”

Now available at Budget locations nationwide, the new fleet of vehicles offers travelers savings at the gas pump to help stretch travel budgets. More than half of the vehicles in the 2011 lineup are rated 28 miles per gallon (mpg) or better (highway) by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These include the 2011 compact Ford Fiesta, which is making its debut in America after becoming the best-selling vehicle in Europe. The Fiesta boasts a fuel efficiency rating of 38 mpg. Joining other Budget vehicles with high fuel-efficiency ratings are the compact Ford Focus at 34 mpg, the standard Ford Fusion with a rating of 33 mpg and the full-size Ford Taurus at 28 mpg.

For those in need of extra space or traveling in small groups, the 2011 fleet also includes the fully-redesigned Ford Explorer sport-utility vehicle and the Ford F150 SuperCab pickup. The 2011Ford Explorer seats seven, features a 290-horsepower V6 engine and provides best-in-class 25 mpg (highway). In addition, the vehicle features the automobile industry’s first and Ford-exclusive inflatable rear safety belts. The Ford F150 SuperCab pickup truck, available at select locations in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Washington, is fully loaded with luxury and style, powered by a V8 engine.

Travelers looking to ride in style can choose from the 2011 Ford Mustang Convertible and the Lincoln MKT. The Ford Mustang Convertible achieves 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque with its V6 engine. The 2011 Lincoln MKT features a 268-horsepower V6 engine and has a fixed glass Vista Roof™ so that every passenger can enjoy the view.

The Budget fleet features Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles and includes a wide variety of vehicles from a wide variety of manufacturers.

“We’re proud to offer Budget customers Ford’s award-winning, quality vehicles. We know they are going to have a consistently outstanding rental experience,” said Ms. Alseth.

What do you think of Budgets 2011 fleet?
