U.S. Rent A Car has become the first car hire company to offer a glance in to real time searches. Offering customers a dynamic way of researching and choose their next hire vehicle.

“Live Search”, located in the usrentacar.co.uk footer, displays to customers the latest searches made by renters, it includes the location, dates and car category selected.

Managing Director, Gavin Boswell stated “The live search option gives our customers the chance to see what other similar renters are hiring; it can also be used to show a friend or family member a quote instantly”.

U.S. Rent A Car.co.uk is still the only car hire USA broker to include supplier reviews written by actual renters. U.S. Rent A Car now includes over 10,000 individual reviews within their search results.

Today usrentacar.co.uk are happy to confirm that they have released the second updated version of the review service which now includes vehicle type collected and image uploading options. They have also revised the review service to show relevant reviews per office pick up.

U.S. Rent A Car estimates that over 5000’s reviews a day are read via its network of sites.

Just to let you all know we have added a new way to view our rental rates, its called the matrix.

We appreciate that viewing all the vehicles on one page can be confusing and play havoc with your eyeballs, so the geeks a usrentacar have added a new button on the results page called “Show Matrix”, clicking on this button provides you with a drop down quick view of all our suppliers and all the category of vehicles they provide, once you have seen the price you like simply click on it and continue with the booking process.

Hi all,

Just had a very interesting meeting with Karl Hendrie, MD of www.bargainvillas.com. Anyone who knows Karl will know he likes to do things slightly differently, hence why this meeting took place at his local gym, and for someone who struggles with fitness it was quite an ordeal.

Karl has been MD of bargain villas now for 2 years, and has been the driving force behind the redesign and Ajax upgrade, he has embraced social media, mostly via Twitter (@bargainvillas) and has now made his biggest impression on the company by signing a deal to incorporate interhome in to the bargain search results.

Interhome

Interhome are one of the largest and most respected holiday rental accommodation agencies in Europe. Interhome is based in Switzerland with offices in most European countries. The company is owned by the Hotelplan Group, one of Europe’s leading travel companies

The deal adds a further 46k holiday homes in 24 countries to bargainvillas already impressive content.

Karl assures me that this deal will not stop bargainvillas from allowing holiday home owners to sign up for free independently, which in a recession hit UK is good news.

I look forward to meeting up with Karl again to see what else he has in store, however this time I’ll chose the venue…. a pub or cake factory.

We have hit the business end of 2009, which means traveling a lot, talking a lot and thinking a lot!

 

This week I’ve been at World Travel Market, attended the second Travel Blog Camp, signed off the blog redesign and look proudly at our new start up.

 

World Travel Market (WTM)

 

Ever year for the past ten years I’ve attended the WTM and without fail I’ve come away re-charged and inspired….apart from this one.

The usual transport issues are still there but I’m use to that now. It was more the lack of companies in my niche that actually promote themselves at this event. Obviously this year has been very difficult financially for all travel companies however the WTM has slowly become an event where the return on investment (ROI) has decreased especially in car rental.

When I first attended, the event was held at Earls Court and if you weren’t represented you weren’t a company worth dealing with. Slowly all the major brokers have stopped exhibiting and only the major car hire suppliers like Alamo, Budget and Dollar remain.

The problem for me is that we meet up with the suppliers regularly anyway, so at WTM it’s merely to say hi.

Obviously this ”rant” is merely from my perspective and for hoteliers it seems a much bigger affair, perhaps I should get in to hotels? rentabed.co.uk anyone?

 

Travel Blog Camp

 

Just when I was losing all heart, me and Karl Hendrie (head honcho now at www.bargainvillas.co.uk) attended the second ever TBCamp, hosted by Tnooz’s Kevin May and organised by travel-rants Darren Cronian.

The TBCamp is an informal get together of travel industry members including bloggers and journalists to discuss travel blogging and social media.

The event enlisted some great speakers ranging from lastminute.com who described their blog strategy, to a very passionate travel agent, Murray Harrold depicting how agents can use social media to make money.

Twitter was the buzz word this year and represented a large portion of chat, I was surprised google wave wasn’t mentioned much, perhaps it’s a little early, I’m sure next year it will be mentioned.

I came away from the TBCamp with the same sort of buzz the WTM use to give me. I have some idea’s for new sites, how to develop this site and a confirmation that my time on twitter is not a waste but perhaps brand building.

A big thank you to Darren who is slowly making TBCamp a must.

Last week I mentioned the start up, www.rentacars.co.uk the car hire opinion and review site. I’m very pleased to say that the site now has more than 13000 reviews, making it easily the largest of its kind.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing how James begins to create brand awareness, and how it will evolve.
