Google The Future Of USA Car Hire?

Hi all,

Exciting news from google yesterday and something that perhaps you wouldn’t associate with the search giant.kit

Google announced via their blog that they have developed technology that will allow cars to drive themselves! Yep just like KIT…

Using video cameras, radar sensors and a laser range finders to “see” other traffic and detailed maps, google have designed a self driving car that has already clocked up more than 140,000 miles.

Google stated “Our automated cars, manned by trained operators, just drove from our Mountain View campus to our Santa Monica office and on to Hollywood Boulevard. They’ve driven down Lombard Street, crossed the Golden Gate bridge, navigated the Pacific Coast Highway, and even made it all the way around Lake Tahoe.”

Exciting times at google, and good to see a very powerful company pushing the boundaries of technology. Would be nice to be renting self driven cars out to customer via usrentacar.co.uk

More info available at googles blog

regards,

James
